Newborns and Babies
A newborn session in your home allows me to capture great posed shots but also tender, more candid moments as you begin your life with your new baby. I allow plenty of time to be sure mom and baby are happy. This means baby is fed and dry and mom can stay close enough to feel safe. We will compose at least four poses to get a good record of baby’s first moments. Tiny fingers, tiny toes, itty bitty ears…All will be captured forever.
For a child’s session my goal is to capture your child’s individual personality, not just their smile. I will take some time to get to know your child so I can best capture him or her. At the time of booking we will set up a time and location that will work best for the pictures you want. Have a super hero in training or a tiny princess? I will listen to your ideas and use them in the session. Children can be unpredictable and I completely understand. I will allow plenty of time to get the shots you will be happy with. Feel free to bring favorite toys as props.
I recommend scheduling your family session on a day when you will have plenty of time to get ready especially if you already have little ones. You won’t want to feel rushed during your session so try not to “squeeze” your session in between plans. I schedule family sessions in the late afternoon so we can capture you in the “golden hour” sunlight, but if the clouds are out (clouds, not rain) that’s ok too. We must allow time for wardrobe changes, etc. Be sure your little ones are well rested with full tummies. It helps to bring snacks and maybe a favorite toy.
It is highly recommend taking the time to plan what you will wear for you session. Simple and solid color clothing photograph the best. Bold prints and patterns can be distracting. Plain t-shirts or button-ups for dad or boys and simple sundresses for girls are great options. Your family doesn’t need to “match” as long as everyone stays within the same color scheme. Each family is unique and your photographs should reflect your family’s personality.
